King Bizkit Biography

'KING BIZKIT’ was formed at the beginning of 1995 by Richard Everitt, from his Band ‘THE SENSATIONAL KING BIZKIT BLUES BAND’ and always features some very talented and well-known musicians, ---- without doubt, some of the finest players in Europe and the Band is now rated by many fans and promoters alike, as one of the hottest live Bands in Europe.

Since 1989, ‘T.S.K.B.B.B’ had been one of the busiest, hard-working live Bands in Europe, with 100’s of gigs to their credit all over Europe and taking audiences by storm wherever they played and did the same to the USA in 1993, when they were invited to appear at the legendary Monterey Blues Festival to support the Neville Brothers and B.B. King, plus playing at the famous Riverside Blues Festival in Portland, supporting the legendary Otis Rush, Jimmy Rogers & Pinetop Perkins, the Sweetwater in Mill Valley with John Lee Hooker, Antone’s in Austin, Texas and many other great venues around the USA during a 10 weeks’ tour.

They returned to Europe for a number of Club dates and Festivals, and then head-lined the prestigious ‘Blues To Bop’ Festival in Lugano, Switzerland, which was televised live throughout Switzerland, Italy and Germany. A live recording of the show by the TV company who broadcast it, has just come to my attention and it is hoped that we can release it on DVD!. Richard Everitt 26.9.06. They immediately returned to the UK to kick-off an extensive tour, with an appearance on the main stage at The Great British R’n’B Festival in Colne, Lancashire, before returning to Europe to carry out another very long tour, culminating with a concert on New Year’s Eve in Lisboa, playing to 50,000 music fans, which was televised live all over Portugal and Spain, and which has since been released on video by ‘King Bizkit Video Productions’ (see Press Release).

1994 saw The Band touring the UK and Europe again and furthering their reputation as an exciting red-hot live Band and they ended the Year with a two month’s tour of the UK, featuring guest Guitarist/Singer Gregg Wright from Los Angeles, who has previously worked with Michael Jackson, Mick Fleetwood, Spencer Davis, Aynsley Dunbar, Gregg Allman, Eddie Murphy, Seal, Berlin and many other top American stars.

1995 saw a change in musical direction, to encompass music across the whole Blues ‘Spectrum’, ---- the shortening of the name to KING BIZKIT, --- a two month’s tour of the UK, an appearance on the Paul Jones Blues Show on BBC’s Radio 2 and the release of their first CD ‘Hooked On You’, released on KING BIZKIT RECORDS, which received excellent critical acclaim from Music Mags and Radio Stations alike throughout Europe and America. Gregg Wright was again touring with the Band and they received rave reviews for their performances throughout Europe and the UK, playing at many of the big UK and European Festivals. In September, they carried out their first tour of Ireland for 10 days, which was a huge success, returned to the UK for a very busy tour in September and October, and at the end of October they returned to Ireland to play at the Guiness Jazz Festival in Cork, returning to Europe for another very long tour during November and December.

1996 saw KING BIZKIT touring Europe again with dates in Germany, Belgium and Switzerland, again playing at the big European Blues Festivals, before returning to Ireland for a 3 week’s tour in April. From there they headed back to Germany and Switzerland again, playing at all the big Festivals, including The Morre Blues Festival in Zottingem, Belgium, before returning to the UK for further club dates. September saw a 4th tour of Ireland for 2 weeks, then some UK dates, followed by a major change of line-up with the addition of more Brass players and 3 Black Backing Singers , expanding KING BIZKIT to a 10 piece Band. The Music is now more funkier, more soulful, with overtones of Gospel influences, ---all written by Richard Everitt, ---and yet still bluesy and up-tempo, jazzy and swinging, which Richard describes as ‘Heavy Soul’.

1997 saw KING BIZKIT touring hard again and going from strength to strength as an original Band and occasionally getting into Roundel Studios in Kent to start laying down tracks for their new album, ‘Selling My Soul’, which will be original material written by Richard Everitt and arranged by Jon Bower, with two tracks written by Gregg Wright.

1998 saw the decision to stop touring with KING BIZKIT until the new album was released and to concentrate on producing a really outstanding album, to pay justice to Richard’s superb songwriting, so the Band was temporarily dis-banded until the new album is released and KING BIZKIT start touring again.
Richard and Jon Bower have been busy working on the album with some great musicians, such as Laurie Wisefield, Adam Clarkson and Tim Ainslie on Guitars, -- Ian Gibbons and Reg Webb on Hammond and Piano, --- and John Lingwood and Kendrick Rowe on Drums. (see Press Release)

So, ‘Selling My Soul’ is nearing completion and already receiving great accolades from the people that have been lucky enough to hear what they have done so far, so it’s an exciting time and soon KING BIZKIT will be ‘back on the road’ touring,….. which is where a Band of their stature should be !!!!!
